Everything on Best Prop Firm Guide is built on data we collect and maintain ourselves. This page explains exactly where our numbers come from, how we rank prop firms, how often we update, and how we stay independent — so you can judge our work for yourself.
How we collect our data
We record every listed prop firm's public Trustpilot rating and review count every day. We have been capturing these snapshots since December 2025 — 7,023 data points and counting, which is why we can show not just today's score but how a firm's reputation has moved over time (see our Trustpilot movers report).
Alongside the ratings, we maintain a structured profile for every prop firm — 52 fields covering funding, profit splits, drawdown and trading rules, payouts and fees, 1,920 individual data points in total. Each value is entered and checked by hand against the firm's official terms, not scraped and left unattended.
How we rank prop firms
We order prop firms primarily by their verified Trustpilot rating and review volume, combined with our own editorial rank score. Placement is never sold. A prop firm cannot pay to rank higher. When a prop firm takes a sponsored placement it is clearly labelled as such and sits outside the ranked list — it never changes another firm's position or score.
Where Trustpilot has removed or suppressed a firm's public rating, we don't quietly drop it or pretend the score still stands — we log it openly on our rating-removal tracker.
How often we update
Trustpilot ratings and review counts refresh every day from our own snapshots, so the figures you see reflect the most recent check. Structured data — funding, profit splits, drawdown and trading rules, payouts and fees — is reviewed on an ongoing basis and whenever a firm changes its terms. Pages that carry a month stamp (for example "… — July 2026") are regenerated at the start of each month.
Our independence & affiliate disclosure
We fund this site through affiliate commissions: some outbound links to prop firms are tracked, and we may earn a commission if you open an account after clicking one. This has no bearing on our rankings, ratings, scores, or which prop firms we include. A firm cannot buy a better position, and we list prop firms we have no commercial relationship with. Our ratings come from Trustpilot, not from us — we report them, including the unflattering ones.
Corrections & contact
If you operate a prop firm and believe a data point is wrong, or you're a trader who has spotted an error, please contact us. We verify against Trustpilot and the firm's official documentation and correct promptly. Accuracy matters more to us than being first.
