How does SFX Funded regulate trading behavior, including restricted strategies, martingale rules, and lot size limits?

💡 Answer

Martingale Allowed?

No

Prohibited Strategies

SFX Funded publishes one of the longest prohibited-strategy lists in the industry. In addition to hedging, copy trading and third-party EAs (covered separately), the following are all explicitly banned:

  • Gamble to pass — outsized risk or maxed leverage inconsistent with your trading history
  • Opposite direction recovery — reopening in the opposite direction within 10 minutes of closing a loss
  • Churning of accounts — buying many max-size accounts and trading each at high risk on the assumption failures are replaceable
  • Poor money management — repeated margin calls
  • Overtrading — frequent entries and exits without a clear rationale
  • One-sided bets — unmanaged directional positions left to run to target
  • Group hedging and multi-account reverse trading
  • Behavioural inconsistency — frequently switching strategies, trading illiquid hours, emotional decisions
  • Exploiting system glitches, price-display errors or feed delays
  • Latency arbitrage, reverse arbitrage and hedge arbitrage
  • HFT and ultra-fast scalping, and tick-scalping
  • News bracketing and news straddles
  • Martingale and grid systems
  • Order layering — generally more than four layered orders on one trade idea
  • Use of emulators

Consequences are graduated and discretionary: profit deduction, forced account reset, soft or hard breach, withdrawal rejection, a cut of your profit split to 20–25%, or a leverage reduction to 1:10 — decided by the risk team.

Our honest read: several of these — "overtrading", "behavioural and inconsistent trading patterns", "one-sided bets" — are subjective by construction and are enforced at the risk team's discretion, typically at the point of withdrawal. That is not unique to SFX, but the sheer length of the list widens the surface area for a discretionary call. Combine that with a suppressed Trustpilot rating and the sensible approach is to take small, frequent payouts early rather than building a large balance you then have to defend.

Lot Size Limits:

Minimum lot size: 0.01 on FX pairs, indices and commodities; 0.1 on crypto.

Maximum lot size: SFX does not publish a fixed per-instrument lot cap. Instead it caps exposure through an over-leveraging rule: any position that reduces your margin level to 150% or lower is a violation. In practice the binding constraints are the leverage limits (1:30 FX, 1:10 indices and commodities, 1:2 crypto) and the maximum floating loss ceiling of 2% — or 1% on $300k/$400k accounts and on 1-Step Pro — which SFX Protect enforces automatically by closing every open position.

Order layering is separately restricted: splitting one trade idea into more than roughly four smaller orders to work around slippage or risk controls is treated as prohibited activity, so you cannot build a large position in slices.

SFX publishes a maximum-lot-size calculation guide in its help centre; run your intended size through it before your first trade, because an over-leveraging finding can cost you profits or the account outright.

Risk & Drawdown Rules
Max Daily Loss Maximum Daily Loss The daily loss limit varies by program: 3% on Rapid, Instant Funding and Pass First Pay Later, 4% on Ascend 2-Step, and none at all during the 1-Step Pro evaluation phase. How it is calculated: at the daily reset SFX takes the higher of your account balance or your account equity and subtracts the percentage to set that day's floor. Because the higher of the two is used, an account sitting in floating profit gets a higher... Maximum Daily LossDaily loss limits vary by program but are always defined as a percentage of the end-of-day reference value (higher of balance or equity at 5 p.m. EST).1-Step: ~4% daily loss.2-Step / Prime 2-Step: ~5% daily loss.Rapid: 3% daily loss.Instant Lite: 2% daily loss.Instant Elite: primarily governed by a 10% total loss limit rather than a fixed daily cap.Breaching the daily loss limit at any point in the session is treated as a hard rule violation. Maximum Daily LossCrypto Fund Trader calculates daily drawdown based on equity. For standard evaluations, the daily maximum loss is measured from the starting balance at 12:05 AM UTC. CFT lists the default daily limits as 5% on 2-phase evaluations and 4% on 1-phase evaluations.Add-ons may modify certain limits (for example, a 2-phase add-on that increases daily drawdown to 6%). Ascend also adds a specific news window risk constraint (see “News Trading”).
Max Total Loss Maximum Overall Loss SFX Funded's overall loss limit tops out at 8% on the Ascend 2-Step and tightens to as little as 4% on Rapid. The headline percentage is the less important half of the answer, because only one SFX program uses a static limit: Ascend 2-Step: 8% static, measured from the initial account balance Pass First, Pay Later: 7% trailing in evaluation, 6% trailing once funded 1-Step Pro: 6% trailing Instant Funding: 6% trailing Rapid 1-Step: 4% trailing Why... Maximum Overall LossMaximum total drawdown at Blueberry Funded is static on most programs:1-Step: 6% max total loss from the starting balance.2-Step / Prime 2-Step / Synthetic: 10% max total loss.Rapid: 4% max total loss on evaluation (and typically 6% funded).Instant Lite: 4% max total loss.Instant Elite: 10% max total loss.If equity falls below the allowed loss floor at any time, the account is considered breached and closed. Maximum Overall LossCFT’s standard evaluation structures use different overall loss models:2-Phase: maximum loss is typically fixed at 10% of initial balance.1-Phase: a 6% trailing drawdown applies (equity-based), and once the account exceeds +6% profit, the trailing line locks at the initial balance instead of continuing to trail upward.3-Phase (if selected): CFT states a 5% fixed maximum loss with a 5% daily max loss.Add-ons may increase max loss limits (e.g., a 2-phase add-on raising max loss to 12%).
Drawdown Type Drawdown Model Mixed — and this is the most consequential difference between SFX programs. Trailing (most programs): Rapid (4%), 1-Step Pro (6%), Instant Funding (6%) and Pass First Pay Later (7% eval / 6% funded) all use a trailing maximum drawdown anchored to your highest-ever account value. In SFX's own words the level "moves up whenever your account reaches a new high" and "never moves down, even if your account value decreases later." Static (one program): Ascend 2-Step uses an... Drawdown ModelMost Blueberry Funded accounts use a static drawdown model for lifetime loss, with the maximum loss defined as a fixed percentage of the starting balance and a balance/equity snapshot used each day for daily loss. The Rapid and some instant styles effectively act like a trailing drawdown within their short evaluation windows, where the permitted loss tracks equity highs more closely and encourages faster profit protection. Drawdown ModelCrypto Fund Trader’s drawdown enforcement is primarily equity-based. The daily loss limit resets using the account’s starting balance at 12:05 AM UTC. For overall drawdown, CFT uses static/fixed overall loss on 2-phase challenges (e.g., 10% of initial) and a trailing model on 1-phase challenges (6% trailing that later locks at the initial balance after +6% gain).Accounts that breach max daily, max overall, or trailing drawdown are deactivated and the trader is notified by email.
Payouts
Payout Frequency Payout Frequency SFX Funded runs a Payout on Demand model on its Ignite, Ascend and Rapid funded accounts. The first request can be made 3 trading days after your first trade, provided you have made at least 3% profit on the account size and your SFX Stability Index is inside your program's threshold. That first withdrawal is processed at a reduced 40% split; the standard 80%+ split applies from the second payout onward. After the first payout, requests are accepted... Payout FrequencyFunded accounts at Blueberry Funded typically pay out every 14 days. Some account types and add-ons may allow a 7-day cycle once initial conditions are met, but bi-weekly payouts are the standard.Payout eligibility usually requires at least 3 distinct trading days with closed profit and a funded account that finishes the cycle in net profit of at least $100 after the profit split. Payout FrequencyIn the final-stage simulation, scholarship requests can be made after at least 15 trading days, or alternatively every 30 calendar days (if rules were not violated). Certain program variants (e.g., 3-phase rules) note a first request possible after 5 trading days, and an add-on may allow eligibility after 7 active trading days. For Instant accounts, CFT also supports a scale milestone: once the account reaches +10% profit, traders can request a “Withdrawal & Update” to both withdraw and double the account size.
Days to First Payout 3 14 15
Payout Processing Time Payout Processing SFX Funded states that withdrawal requests submitted through the dashboard are processed within 2 business days, and markets an average payout time of under 8 hours. It backs this with a Payout Guarantee: paid within 48 hours of risk-team approval, or SFX pays you $1,000. The 48-hour clock runs on business days only (Mon–Fri, Dubai time, 09:00–17:00, excluding UAE public holidays) and pauses over weekends, and it starts at approval rather than at submission — so the risk... Payout ProcessingOnce a payout request is approved, Blueberry Funded processes withdrawals using a mix of direct crypto transfers and RiseWorks-managed payments. Crypto payouts are usually completed fastest, while larger sums via RiseWorks may take a few extra days due to banking and compliance checks.Average processing time is around 1–4 business days, after which arrival depends on the chosen method and the receiving bank or wallet. Payout ProcessingCFT states that once a scholarship is requested, its team verifies the information and sends payment within 48 business hours. After the payment is sent, CFT states the user receives the scholarship in no more than 24 hours (timing depends on the payment rail).

Trading Permissions
News Trading Evaluation phases: news trading is allowed, on every program. SFX only warns about the volatility risk. Funded accounts: news trading is restricted. A 4-minute blackout window applies around every red-folder event on the Forex Factory calendar — from 2 minutes before to 2 minutes after the release. Inside that window SFX blocks market-order execution, pending limit-order activation, and stop-loss/take-profit triggers. Red-folder events marked "All Day" are exempt because they have no fixed release time. Penalties escalate and differ by program:... Blueberry Funded enforces strict high-impact news restrictions. Traders must not open or close trades within a short window (commonly 2–10 minutes) before or after red-folder news. This includes take-profit closures as well as new orders.A stop-loss exception usually applies for trades opened several hours earlier – if a pre-set stop-loss is hit during the news window, that closure is generally allowed. News trading is allowed on CFT evaluations according to its FAQ. For Ascend evaluations, CFT adds a news-window constraint: within 2 minutes before and after high-impact news or market opening, accounts must not open/add positions or raise maximum theoretical loss above 2% of initial balance.
Weekend Trades Weekend crypto trading is allowed on all account types. SFX Funded is unambiguous on this: "you can trade crypto during the weekend with SFX Funded. This applies to all account types." Positions may be held open over the weekend and new positions may be opened. This is a genuine advantage over firms such as FTMO, which require Normal-account positions to be closed before the weekend break. Note two practical caveats: crypto leverage at SFX is only 1:2, and there are no swap-free accounts, so weekend and overnight financing costs apply and count against your loss limits. Weekend and overnight holding is generally permitted. Traders may keep positions open across market close and reopen, and crypto markets can often be traded through the weekend, subject to platform hours. Some faster programs (e.g. Rapid) may impose additional weekend execution restrictions, but carrying positions is typically allowed. Weekend/overnight holding is generally allowed (CFT states it accepts swing trading strategies and keeping trades open over the weekend). Market availability still follows instrument schedules: crypto trades 24/7 while forex is typically Monday–Friday and other CFDs follow their own market hours.
Copy Trading Copy trading is not allowed at SFX Funded, in any form. The rule is one of the strictest in the industry: "the use of Copy Trading Software is not permitted." The ban covers automatic or manual copying of trades or strategies from other traders or signal providers, and applies to every account combination — evaluation to evaluation, funded to funded, funded to evaluation. Running identical trades simultaneously across your own multiple accounts is also caught by the rule, as is... Copy trading is allowed only between your own Blueberry Funded accounts and via supported tools such as the Prop Firm One (PF1) integration. Copying from or to external personal accounts, signal services or other traders’ prop accounts is not permitted, nor is managing third-party money through a Blueberry Funded account. CFT does not present a simple “copy trading allowed” rule in its public FAQ. However, it explicitly restricts multi-account coordination through rules such as the reverse trading/hedging constraints, and it states that copy trading between Ascend accounts is prohibited (including coordinated or mirrored behaviour that cannot be attributed to chance).
EA Allowed EAs are allowed only under unusually restrictive conditions — this is one of the strictest EA policies among mainstream prop firms. Permitted: EAs you developed yourself and own the source code to Trade managers and risk managers Calculators and utility tools Prohibited: Any third-party EA. "Using any other third-party Expert Advisor is not allowed." Any EA where you do not own the source code — and SFX requires you to hand over a copy of the source code for verification... Expert Advisors (EAs) and algorithmic trading bots are allowed on many accounts, provided they do not employ forbidden behaviours such as HFT, latency arbitrage, martingale, grid or hyper-scalping styles.EAs are expected to mirror how a prudent manual trader would behave under the same risk limits; systems that consistently push margins, daily loss or position stacking limits are likely to be flagged. Automation is partially supported: CFT lists categories of prohibited EA types (notably HFT, tick scalping, arbitrage and demo-environment exploitation). EAs that do not fall into these categories are not explicitly banned in the FAQ, but traders remain responsible for ensuring automation complies with all rules.
KYC & Restrictions
KYC Required No Yes No
KYC Stage KYC is mandatory and is handled by Veriff, a third-party verification provider. SFX states that "all traders must submit and pass to gain full access to their funded account or become eligible to receive payouts." When it is triggered: On passing an evaluation — Rapid, 1-Step Pro, Ascend and Ignite traders complete KYC after the risk-team review and before the funded account is released. Before the first payout — Instant Funding traders, who skip the evaluation, verify before their first... As a broker-backed prop firm, Blueberry Funded must perform KYC/AML checks, especially before larger withdrawals via RiseWorks. Traders should be prepared to provide government-issued ID and, where requested, proof of address and source-of-funds information. Failure to pass KYC can lead to account closure and cancellation of pending payouts. KYC is required as part of the scholarship/withdrawal workflow. After a scholarship request is submitted in the dashboard, CFT states the trader receives a contract to sign and a KYC to complete before funds are sent. (Bybit evaluations may additionally be subject to Bybit’s own KYC rules, which are the trader’s responsibility.)
